Welcome to the topic of Personal Attributes! In this unit, we introduce ourselves to others and talk about the essential characteristics that make up our personality and with which we identify. We therefore attempt to answer the question: Who am I?
Lines of inquiry
- Factual: In what ways does the Spanish language distinguish between the traits that define our identity and the circumstances that influence us?
- Conceptual: How do I present myself to others?
- Debatable: To what extent is our sense of self shaped by our surroundings?
ATLs
- Thinking: Transfer: Students will analyze the similarities and differences between Spanish and their reference language(s).
- Thinking: Critical thinking: Students will infer grammar rules from given examples.
- Thinking: Creative: Students will reflect upon cultural stereotypes and create a “map of prejudices.”
- Social: Collaboration: Students will work in pairs and in groups.
- Research: Students will research the cultural stereotypes of different Spanish-speaking countries.
- Communication: Students will share their ideas, observations and reflections.
- Self-management: Organization: Students will use the resources to self-learn concepts and consolidate skills before and after lessons through reading, research, revision, and practice.
