En España, tenemos una visión flexible del tiempo, adaptada a nuestros horarios de comida. Así pues, aunque técnicamente deberíamos decir "buenas tardes" a partir de las doce del mediodía, seguimos diciendo "buenos días" hasta la hora de comer. Del mismo modo, solemos decir "buenas tardes" hasta la hora de cenar o, por lo menos, hasta que se pone el sol y el cielo está oscuro. Existe una franja horaria, entre las ocho y las nueve y media, en la que a menudo incluso nosotros mismos dudamos si decir "buenas tardes" o "buenas noches". Solucionamos este dilema acortando el saludo: "¡Buenas!"
In Spain, we have a flexible view of time, adapted to our meal times. Therefore, although we should technically say "buenas tardes" (good afternoon) from twelve noon, we continue saying "buenos días" (good morning) until lunchtime. Similarly, we usually say "buenas tardes" (good evening) until dinner time or, at least, until the sun sets and the sky gets dark. There's a time window, between eight and nine-thirty, when even we sometimes hesitate whether to say "buenas tardes" or "buenas noches" (good evening/night). We solve this conundrum by shortening the greeting: "¡Buenas!"

Recuerda que, para preguntar por el horario, es decir, por la hora a la que ocurre algo, usamos la preposición "a" (p. ej., ¿a qué hora desayunas?). También podemos usar otras preposiciones cuando no somos muy precisos (p. ej., Suelo desayunar sobre las siete y media). En esta unidad, vas a hablar de tu rutina diaria y responder a preguntas sobre tus horarios. Descarga la hoja de trabajo para ver qué preguntas ya puedes responder. Remember that to ask about the schedule, that is, the time at which something happens, we use the preposition "a" (e.g., At what time do you have breakfast?). We can also use other prepositions when we are not being very precise (e.g., I usually have breakfast around 7:30).
