El pretérito perfecto compuesto
Present perfect
The present perfect tense is used to talk about completed actions with a connection to the present, either because they have occurred today, this year, or in this lifetime, without specifying when. It is also used for past actions whose effects are still noticeable in the present. For example, 'I cleaned my room yesterday' (completed action, finished past time), and as a result, my room is still tidy today. So, you can say 'he limpiado mi habitación' (present perfect tense) instead of 'limpié mi habitación' (simple past tense). Here are some examples, with regular verbs (limpiar, barrer) and one irregular verb (hacer).| LIMPIAR - To clean | BARRER - To sweep | HACER - To do, to make |
|---|---|---|
| He limpiado | He barrido | He hecho |
| Has limpiado | Has barrido | Has hecho |
| Ha limpiado | Ha barrido | Ha hecho |
| Hemos limpiado | Hemos barrido | Hemos hecho |
| Habéis limpiado | Habéis barrido | Habéis hecho |
| Han limpiado | Han barrido | Han hecho |
