Seguramente hayas respondido que no son lo mismo, y con razón. Sin embargo, en el lenguaje coloquial del español, especialmente en Latinoamérica, es común escuchar la palabra clima en lugar de tiempo en frases como “¿qué clima se espera hoy?” o “¿qué tal está el clima hoy?”. Técnicamente, en un contexto científico, la palabra clima se refiere a los patrones atmosféricos a largo plazo de una región, mientras que tiempo alude al estado atmosférico puntual. You probably answered that they are not the same, and you’re right. However, in colloquial Spanish, especially in Latin America, it’s common to hear the word clima instead of tiempo in phrases like “¿qué clima se espera hoy?” (“what weather is expected today?”) or “¿qué tal está el clima hoy?” (“how’s the weather today?”). Technically, in a scientific context, the word clima refers to the long-term atmospheric patterns of a region, whereas tiempo refers to the specific, short-term atmospheric conditions. Group activity: The climate od other Spanish-speaking countries
- En equipo, investigad un tipo de clima y un país hispanohablante de Latinoamérica o de África que pertenezca a esa zona climática. Es posible que, al igual que España, ese país tenga más de un clima.
- Preparad una presentación para hablar del clima de ese país y sobre cuál es la mejor época para visitarlo.
- Presentad vuestro trabajo en clase.
- In teams, research one type of climate and a Spanish-speaking country in Latin America or Africa that belongs to that climatic zone. It’s possible that, just like Spain, that country has more than one climate.
- Prepare a presentation to talk about the climate of that country and about which time of year is best to visit it.
- Present your work in class.

Asegúrate de que cada equipo trabaje sobre el clima de un país diferente para que las presentaciones sean más variadas e interesantes. Si lo prefieres, en lugar de dividir a los alumnos por zonas climáticas, puedes asignarles directamente un país hispanohablante para que investiguen su clima.
