Draw a bull's-eye diagram like the one below or use the worksheet. Spend about 5-10 minutes analysing a poem or song. In relation to the poem  or song, decide which word you think is the single most import word and place it in the middle of your diagram. Decide which three words are the second most important and place these in the middle ring. Which six words would you classify as the third most important words in the poem or song? Place these in the outer ring. Write a 500-word rationale which explains why you have ranked these words in the way that you have ranked them. What determines the 'importance' of a word in a poem or song?
