Los siguientes puntos se basan en las instrucciones para el examen oral individual (IOA), de la Guía del BI para Lengua B: Español Ab Initio (exámenes de 2021), pero no están limitados a ella. 

The following points are based on the instructions for the individual oral assessment (IOA), from the IB Guide for Language B: Spanish Ab Initio (2021 exams), but are not limited to it.

Español Inglés

Grabación:

  • El examen debe ser grabado digitalmente.
  • La grabación debe ser de alta calidad.
  • La grabación no debe pausarse ni alterarse
  • La duración de la grabación no debe exceder los 10 minutos.
  • La duración de la grabación no debe ser inferior a 7 minutos.
  • El/la profesor/a debe controlar los tiempos de la prueba y finalizarla dentro del límite de diez minutos. Todo material grabado en exceso no será escuchado por el equipo de moderadores del IB.
  • La grabación no debe contener ningún dato que pueda dar pistas sobre la identidad del/la estudiante o profesor/a (nombres, número de candidato/a, nombre del colegio). 
  • La grabación debe hacerse enteramente en español.

Recording:

  • The exam must be recorded digitally.
  • The recording must be of high quality.
  • The recording must not be paused or altered.
  • The duration of the recording must not exceed 10 minutes.
  • The duration of the recording must not be less than 7 minutes.
  • The teacher must manage the timing of the exam and finish it within the ten-minute limit. Any material recorded beyond that time will not be listened to by the IB moderation team.
  • The recording must not contain any information that could give clues about the identity of the student or teacher (names, candidate number, school name).
  • The recording must be made entirely in Spanish.

Partes de la prueba:

  3. Preguntas sobre el estímulo y su tema (de 3 a 4 minutos)
  4. Conversación general (de 3 a 4 minutos)

Preparación:

  • 15 minutos, a partir del momento en que se presentan los estímulos visuales.
  • Supervisada.
  • No se permite el uso de ningún recurso.
  • El/la estudiante elige uno de dos estímulos visuales (pueden ser fotos, dibujos, carteles, anuncios).
  • Los estímulos visuales deben ser desconocidos y nuevos para el/la estudiante.
  • Cada estímulo debe versar sobre una área temática diferente de las cinco prescritas.
  • Cada estímulo debe llevar una leyenda con el área temática, sin ningun texto adicional.
  • El/la estudiante puede escribir un guion breve (máximo 10 puntos) para guiar su presentación. Se trata de un esquema con el hilo conductor de las ideas, no de un texto con párrafos o frases completas.
  • Estas notas y el estímulo visual son los únicos materiales permitidos durante el examen.
  • Al terminar la prueba, el/la profesor/a deberá retener y conservar las notas del/la estudiante, ya que podrían ser solicitadas por el IBO.

Preparation:

  • 15 minutes, from the moment the visual stimuli are presented.
  • Supervised.
  • The use of any resources is not allowed.
  • The student chooses one of two visual stimuli (they can be photos, drawings, posters, advertisements).
  • The visual stimuli must be unknown and new to the student.
  • Each stimulus must be about a different theme from the five prescribed.
  • Each stimulus must include a caption with the theme, without any additional text.
  • The student may write a brief script (maximum 10 bullet points) to guide their presentation. It is an outline with the thread of the ideas, not a text with paragraphs or complete sentences.
  • These notes and the visual stimulus are the only materials allowed during the exam.
  • At the end of the test, the teacher must retain and keep the student's notes, as they could be requested by the IBO. 

Presentación del estímulo visual:

  • Entre 1 y 2 minutos.
  • El/la estudiante puede usar sus notas, siempre y cuando no haya excedido los límites autorizados. No está permitido leer párrafos o frases enteras.
  • Salvo que sea absolutamente imprescindible, el/la profesor/a debe abstenerse de ayudar al/la estudiante con comentarios o preguntas durante su presentación.
  • Si al cabo de un minuto el/la estudiante da muestras de haber terminado su presentación, su profesor/a iniciará la parte interactiva de prueba.
  • Si al cabo de dos minutos el/la estudiante no ha terminado su presentación, su profesor/a esperará a que concluya su frase y le indicará amablemente que la primera parte de la prueba ha concluido. Pasados los dos minutos, el/la profesor/a tiene la obligación de interrumpir cortesmente al/la estudiante para dar paso a la parte interactiva de la prueba.
  • Durante la presentación, el/la estudiante debe describir la imagen basándose en detalles explícitos e implícitos.  Debe aportar interpretaciones personales, coherentes con el tema y el mensaje de la imagen. Debe vincular la imagen con la cultura hispanohablante de forma clara y justificada.

Presentation of the visual stimulus:

  • Between 1 and 2 minutes.
  • The student may use their notes, as long as they have not exceeded the authorized limits. It is not allowed to read entire paragraphs or sentences.
  • Unless it is absolutely necessary, the teacher must refrain from helping the student with comments or questions during their presentation.
  • If after one minute the student shows signs of having finished their presentation, the teacher will begin the interactive part of the exam.
  • If after two minutes the student has not finished their presentation, the teacher will wait for them to finish their sentence and kindly indicate that the first part of the exam has concluded. After two minutes, the teacher is obligated to politely interrupt the student to start the interactive part of the assessment.
  • During the presentation, the student must describe the image based on both explicit and implicit details. They must provide personal interpretations, consistent with the theme and message of the image. They must link the image to the Spanish-speaking culture in a clear and justified way.

Segunda parte: preguntas sobre el estímulo visual

  • Entre 3 y 4 minutos.
  • El/la profesor/a debe señalar verbalmente que va a dar comienzo a la segunda parte de la prueba. 
  • Se hacen preguntas relacionadas con la presentación, el estímulo visual y su tema.
  • El/la profesor/a debe estar atento/a a no hacer preguntas que el/la estudiante ya haya desarrollado durante su presentación.

Second part: questions about the visual stimulus

  • Between 3 and 4 minutes.
  • The teacher must verbally indicate that they are going to begin the second part of the exam.
  • Questions are related to the presentation, the visual stimulus, and its theme.
  • The teacher must be careful not to ask questions that the student has already addressed during their presentation.

Tercera parte: conversación general

  • Entre 3 y 4 minutos.
  • El/la profesor/a debe señalar verbalmente que va a dar comienzo a la tercera y última parte de la prueba. 
  • Se hacen preguntas relacionadas con un área temática diferente de la previamente discutida. 
  • Se pueden hacer preguntas relacionadas con una tercera área temática.
  • No es aconsejable abordar más de dos áreas temáticas en esta parte de la prueba.

Third part: general conversation

  • Between 3 and 4 minutes.
  • The teacher must verbally indicate that they are going to begin the third and final part of the exam.
  • Questions are related to a different theme than the one previously discussed.
  • Questions may be asked related to a third theme.
  • It is not advisable to address more than two themes in this part of the exam.
